Draughty Window Problems

Do you ever sit in a room and find you have to move due to a cold draught blowing through a closed window? A lot of people assume incorrectly that it is caused by the seals being damaged. In the majority of cases this is incorrect, as the problem is usually caused by worn or damaged friction stays (hinges).

Do not let a glazing company scare you by saying you require new windows when you don’t. Most windows can have the hinges replaced for a fraction of the cost of replacement windows, you can repair all the windows in a house for less that a price of one new window.

So if you have suffered a winter wearing a coat indoors due to draughty windows, act now while the weather is better and keep the coat on a hook when the weather gets bad.
